Transporting you to an Italian deli the moment you step through the doors, Piccolino in Alderley Edge combines table dining with a selection of bar seats which run across the front of the deli counter – creating a relaxed and informal environment which is built on authentic flavours and the kind of welcome that makes you want to keep coming back.
When Piccolino in Alderley Edge brought the Carroll Design team onto their project, we started with a basic floor plan of how the space and various dining tables would be laid out – concluding that by adding bar seats along the deli counter we could maximise seating and create that blend of different environments to suit all diners and guests. Beyond that, we used the different spaces available throughout the venue to create different dining experiences – with inside-outside dining available throughout the main space thanks to the installation of sliding glass doors, and the glass fronted working bar with a “barista’s table” style set up right in the centre of the action for those looking for cocktails with added showmanship.
To create the right space for this venue in Alderley Edge, we leaned on the brand colour of pale blue and infused it into the seats and across the chair fabrics in all dining areas. We then used a combination of marble and wood to create the tables and different settings, with the cold marble edge juxtaposing the ornately curved wooden frame perfectly.
Wine and all the accessories that come with an authentic Italian dinner became the mainstay of each area’s decorative flair, and we used a combination of large overhead lights and small table lights to ensure that the restaurant as a whole felt light and bright but that each table also benefits from its own intimacy.
Customers since day one have heralded the open plan of Piccolino’s inside and outside spaces, and enjoyed the showmanship and drama that comes from being able to sit in the bar area, along the deli counter, and inside the main restaurant itself.
