A high end restaurant in the middle of Euston Station, Gino’s is part of the Gino D’Acampo brand and promises authentic Italian food in a quick service but elegant and luxurious setting. Targeting everyone from passing tourists to commuters, locals, and an international audience, the restaurant site needed to provide 150 seats within a relatively tight space and embody the duck egg blue branding colours in a light and welcoming space.
As part of this restaurant design project, we wanted to factor in quick service fridges for takeaway drinks and produce, suiting all potential customer needs and preferences with comfortable tables and faster options for those in a rush.
The client was interested in the diner style of booth seating with padded benches rather than traditional chairs across the restaurant, with these bench style seats with backrests affording more privacy to each individual table and expanding the number of diners who could sit around each table if – for example – they had children. We located these bench seats along both glass-constructed walls across the terrace part of the restaurant overlooking the station concourse, while keeping more of a formal dining set up inside with matching chairs and wooden tables.
Setting a line of dining seats along both the bar and the kitchen frontage created a way of maximising the number of heads that the restaurant could seat, and it also allowed us to lean on the drama which comes from the kitchen and bar itself – adding to the diner experience and encompassing that experiential dining concept with the restaurant interior design. Not to mention, by implementing rows of seats we also created the ideal solutions for single diners, commuters, and those grabbing a quick meal before getting on a train.
The personal touch for this restaurant, and its authenticity, comes from the decorative accessories in the form of wall hangings, photographs, and details in the form of the selected Italian produce which tempts and entices passers-by inside. Integrating a high end dining experience amid the hustle and bustle of a train station, this project saw us unite functional and convenient dining with a memorable experience.
