If it’s refined dining you’re looking for, with inflections of rustic tradition alongside the sweeping curves and high-end materials of a modern 5* establishment, then Victor’s in Oxford is the restaurant for you.
A vast interior space with industrial features built into the ceiling, plenty of natural light, authentic brick walls, and sweeping archways dotted throughout the space, this restaurant was one that we were involved in throughout the interior design process – helping to refine the colour palettes, select materials, and source the best furnishings to bring the space to life.
We started this project by installing a number of mirrors and standalone glass walls; the latter of which serve to break the venue up into separate spaces without impacting the light and bright feel of the space as a whole. The mirrors were intricately cut to fit into the brick archways, while the addition of square panes in the standalone glass walls makes them feel like part of the original rustic building space.
Making the bar a feature in one section of the restaurant, the dining spaces benefit from a range of bench seats and chairs – all of which sit beneath heavy branches of wisteria which adds delicate pops of colour and really epitomises the creativity of the space as a whole. The oversized light fittings which hang above the dining space compliment the glass panels while the simple dark floor and whitewashed brick walls all support the idea of the food being the spotlight of this particular dining experience.
The main challenge in providing interior design services to chain restaurant is to find new and unique ways of presenting the same brand over and over again – however, the very bare bones of this venue made this a lot easier as the focus was mainly on finding ways to highlight and celebrate the existing features already present in the building.
